One
of our customers that have enrolled into our Innovation
and Change (CQ) training and consulting programs is the gigantic market
leader of home furnishing industry in an emerging market. They have established
over hundreds of gigantic home furnishing malls at over hundreds of cities in
30 years. However, their businesses are declining significantly in the recent
years due to significant declining in retailing business and competition.
During the
assessment of the consultative training needs, we have visited to one of their gigantic mall
which has an internal shuttle railway train. There are many shops inside the
mall and relatively little traffic in the mall during peak hours. In comparison
to one of their competitors in equivalent, they have strong innovative
concepts, marketing and designs that drive consistent huge traffic and business
into their mall that literally going to explode their space. Of course on the
other hands, there are increases in purchases online for home furnishing and
appliances.
They were
elaborated as “dinosaurs” as they have built such a gigantic empire so far, they literally have
too high expenses maintaining the empire, they were pride with what they have
achieved so far and remain political issues within, the team were lack of the
right competencies to deal with changes and unwilling to change.
We have recommended they refine the customer
segments, identify the needs and value propositions. During the workshops, we equip
team with the necessary skills to cope with the new strategies. Team were
learning the entire innovative thinking model and involved in the transition
process, tapping on the group wisdoms. The team’s entire mindset were shifted
and accepted the reality to change. After the workshops, the team were excited
as they have found some innovative ways to transform and leap frog.
